Our Mission

Barrio Seguro provides accessible safety information for neighborhoods in Spain. Our goal is to help residents, tourists, and people planning to relocate make informed decisions about where to live or visit.

Data Sources

All data displayed on this website comes from official public sources:

Barcelona:Open Data Barcelona(CC-BY 4.0)
Bilbao:Open Data Euskadi(CC-BY 4.0)
Valencia:Open Data València(CC-BY 4.0)
  • Annual victimization surveys from municipal statistics offices
  • Official crime statistics reported by regional police forces

Safety Score Methodology

Our Safety Score (1-10 scale) is calculated using three weighted factors:

Number of reported crimes per 1,000 residents

Victimization

Percentage of residents who reported being victims of crime

25%

Perception

How safe residents feel in their neighborhood (from surveys)

Formula:

Safety Score = (Crime × 0.40) + (Victimization × 0.35) + (Perception × 0.25)

This information is based on official statistics and is provided for informational purposes only. Crime statistics may not reflect the actual safety experience in a neighborhood. Many factors affect personal safety. Always exercise personal judgment and consult local authorities.
