Our Mission
Barrio Seguro provides accessible safety information for neighborhoods in Spain. Our goal is to help residents, tourists, and people planning to relocate make informed decisions about where to live or visit.
Data Sources
All data displayed on this website comes from official public sources:
- Annual victimization surveys from municipal statistics offices
- Official crime statistics reported by regional police forces
Safety Score Methodology
Our Safety Score (1-10 scale) is calculated using three weighted factors:
Crime Rate
Number of reported crimes per 1,000 residents
Victimization
Percentage of residents who reported being victims of crime
Perception
How safe residents feel in their neighborhood (from surveys)
Formula:
Safety Score = (Crime × 0.40) + (Victimization × 0.35) + (Perception × 0.25)Score Scale
